Download the Zip file stored on server

Hi Cheeso,

I am using DotNetZip 1.7 as new compression utility on our website. What I need to do is:

1). Zip documents uploaded via our website and save the .zip file on server. These are done on a .aspx page.

2). Make the zip file available for download - add a “download” button on web page. When it is clicked, a download window should be popped up.

However, when I click the button, I got an error: “You are not authorized to view this page”.

We were using SharpZipLib before and we do not see this message.

Is something I am missing? Do I need to set access permission of zip file while saving it? If so, How?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi Wendy,

I would love to help you but I don't really get what the problem is.

I don't know what button you are clicking or why you might be getting the "You are not authorized..." message.  Often that message is presented by ASP.NET when you don't have the filesystem security set up properly.  But I cannot say for certain since I don't know, really, what you are doing!

If you have some more specific questions around DotNetZip I can try to help.
