DotNetZip file size limitations

Hi all,

I am currently using SharpZipLib for file compression, but it seems to have a file size limit of about 2.2gb.

What are the file size limits of DotNetZip? I've heard 4gb was the max... is this accurate? Will DotNetZip be

a good replacement for SharpZip??

Thanks in advance

There is a 4gb limitation in the size of standard ZIP files, owing to the format itself. If you use ZIP64 extensions, you can increase that to (something very very large).  DotNetZip supports ZIP64 extensions.  I don't know if SharpZipLib supports those extensions.  For more on the extensions:

As for whether DotNetZip is a good replacement for SharpZipLib, check the reviews here. Lots of people think so.
