32-Bit vs 64-Bit Host Performance

I use the output stream to generate 1mb in-memory zip segments totaling about 50MB. On Win2K3 server (32 bit) it does it in about 3 seconds. On my workstation, Win7Pro 64-bit, it does it in about the same time. Yet when I port the app to Win2K8 64-bit (our goal) it slows down by a factor of 10. I've eliminated everything I could think of (contention, A/V, etc) and after days of trying to understand what is going I'm out of ideas. If anyone here has any suggestions I'm open to them.
